Prof. Dr. Stefan Haufe

Stefan Haufe is a computer scientist. He obtained his PhD (Dr. rer. nat.) at TU Berlin in the machine learning group of Prof. Klaus-Robert Müller. His PhD project focused on source reconstruction and robust functional connectivity estimation from EEG signals, a topic in which he is still highly interested. During that time, he also made contributions to brain-computer interfacing and mental state monitoring in collaboration with Prof. Benjamin Blankertz (TU Berlin) and Prof. Gabriel Curio (Charité). Stefan conducted a Postdoc at City College New York with Prof. Lucas Parra, where he worked on electrical head modeling for EEG and TCS simulations as well as on the relation between neuroimaging modalities using inter-subject correlations. Subsequently, he was a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellow in the group of Prof. Paul Sajda at Columbia University, New York, where he studied neural correlates of complicated grief using fMRI. Overall, he has more than 13 years of experience in analyzing and modeling neuroimaging data using signal processing and machine learning techniques. In 2018, Stefan was awarded an ERC starting grant, and in 2019 he established the Brain and Data Science lab at Charité.
